I post these for completeness, but they aren't really that good.
They signal the demise of the Sony Mavica - the flash was operating sporadically
at best, which is why some of them are a bit on the dark side.
As has been noted elsewhere, the pictures are 640x480, and about 30-80K in size.
Nothing to write home about now, but bear in mind this was a first-generation
model, bought in 1998 (just before the Adelphi Convention, as it happens), and
at the time it blew me away. I reckon that in the 4 years it lasted it took
well over a hundred films-worth of photos so at that rate it more than justified
its existence in saved film and developing costs alone.
Enough whinging about the camera, what about the event?
It was bloody brilliant, that's what.
The first one at Hinckley, which is several orders of magnitude better than
the Adelphi or Sachas.
Kate's first, and she enjoyed it at least as much as we did.
Long may it continue.
