What is it?

SEW File Utilities is a program for 'tweaking' embroidery files, currently at Version 3.0.
None of its functions are ground-breaking, but it provides a useful bag of tools all together in one place.

Currently it supports Janome SEW and JEF formats, together with its own native SFU format.
Other formats will be added in the future.

Here is a list of its functions:

• Multiple files open
• Zoomable view window
• Selective view of Stitch blocks
• 'Watch It Stitch' display
• Reposition design within frame
• Change order of Stitch blocks
• Change colour of Stitch blocks
• Change tension of Stitch blocks (SEW format only)
• Change hoop size (JEF format only)
• Combine Stitch blocks to eliminate spurious colour changes
• Break Stitch blocks into parts then
  Reorder and recombine to 'rationalise' jump stitches or
  Delete or Change colour of some parts and recombine rest
• Rotate and Reflect Stitch blocks
• Reverse direction of stitching
• Copy / Paste between designs
• View design information
• Colour design printout, with Stitch block information
• Convert between SEW and JEF formats (registered version only)
• Integrated printable Catalog screen with Preview
• Copy / Move / Delete files from the Catalog screen
• Automatically fixes problems in converted files

And some things it doesn't do (but might in future)

• Digitising
• Stitch level editing
• Download to memory card
• Add text
• Resize

System Requirements

It will not run on Windows 3. Does anybody care?
It has been tested extensively on Windows 98 and Windows XP.
It has not been tested on Windows 95, Windows ME, Windows NT or Windows 2000, however there is no reason why it should not run on these systems.
A display resolution of at least 800 x 600 in 256 colours is required, and 1024 x 768 in 65536 colours (or more) is recommended.
Other than that, it should work OK on any computer which will run the operating system.
Disk space requirements are minimal. As with all computer software, the more memory you have, the better.
The help file is in Adobe Acrobat format, so Acrobat Reader is required. This is available free from the Adobe web site.

License and Support

SEW File Utilities version 3.0 is shareware.

Modifications since Version 2

Version 3 has been completely rewritten to make it easier for me to support and enhance.
The list of features is basically the same as Version 2, with the addition of the JEF format and conversion.
The Catalog and Break Apart functions have been significantly changed to make them easier to use.
